Dear Editor,
I looked on in horror when Janella Precius of TVJ asked the prime minister, as she was exiting the tarmac at the airport, whether she regretted the efforts to spruce up the city in anticipation of the President Barack Obama's visit.
This again shows the level of journalistic immaturity that is so pervasive; not because of the question, but in playing into the populist banter just after the prime minister had greeted the president, which would have been a source of great pride for all of Jamaica. That is like bad talking the bride or groom during their toast at a wedding.
There is a time and place for everything. Certainly that was neither the time nor the place. There will be time for post-mortems which should question the clean-up effort, inclusive of the removal of street people, the destruction of stalls at Heroes Circle, impact of productivity especially in the Corporate Area, and many other items, but not then.
Grow up media! This is not a race to the bottom.
