I was watching Dancing Dynamites on Television Jamaica on Thursday, April 23, 2015, when I heard a song by Vybz Kartel which contained lyrics which were offensive and inappropriate.
The lyrics I recognised were "so me make a little girl and a yute just/box you down quicker than a box lunch/and punch up you face quicker than a fruit punch", which occurred at approximately 5:30 pm during the opening session of the show.
I note that sponsors LIME, Burger King, Bigga, and Supligen have pumped significant sums into the production of the show and, as such, they are equally culpable for what is delivered to the public. Thus, the material which promoted violence to the teenage demographic is untenable.
It is irresponsible sponsorship! One wonders what the personnel responsible for vetting content at the station was doing why this song was aired.
I hereby call upon the Broadcasting Commission to launch an investigation into this matter, and reinforce the regulations that this content is unacceptable by any stretch of the imagination.
