Dear Editor,
The Baltimore mother featured on the front page of the Daily Observer on April 29, 2015 was mad, angry that the son she brought up well chose to do otherwise and throw an object at the police. This led to her actions of slapping him in public and saying to him, more or less, "How could you?", as he disappointed her. She lost it and did what she had to do.
These shottas and gunmen all have mothers, grandmothers and aunts. From the moment that they see their sons, nephews, cousins choosing the wrong path, they should grab them up and "take them in hand".
Most Jamaican youngsters grew up in Sunday/Sabbath School and the church. It's full time these women take full charge and do what they have to do, because it is these same women who are going to come when the TV cameras are on them to block the road with placards in hand and demanding justice, saying the boys/men are innocent.
