It is quite distressing how the state is treating our children - the people who are supposed to protect them are the same ones abusing them, while professing their love for them!
When the situation of the children being abused in various places of safety was brought to light, I was left dumbfounded! All that was left for me to do was to castigate them!
These children are in dire need of our care and protection. It is disgusting that the 'protectors' are turning a blind eye to people having sex with these children through fences, and having them gyrating to lewd music. It seems as if it is a business venture, as some workers in those institutions are being paid by those loathsome creatures to keep silent. It does not matter if the perpetrators are from the upper or lower echelons of society; this type of behaviour cannot be condoned.
Whom are these children to turn to? They were taken there to seek some form of solace from being abused, hence the treatment being meted out to them is a vile betrayal! They deserve better than this. We must ensure that they are kept safe at all times.
To prevent Jamaica from experiencing anomie, we all need to find ways to cauterise the damage we have inflicted upon this land. Let's start with our abused children. I commiserate with all victims of abuse. I also hope that those children will muster the courage to overcome their fears, as their innocence is severely and profusely shattered.
