Dear Editor,
It was with a profound sense of loss that I heard of the passing of journalist and author Ken Jones. A quiet giant in the field of his choice, he epitomised that old world charm and dignified demeanour that is fast becoming extinct in the cut and thrust of news and news-carrying.
As a writer of facts and history, Ken always sought to clarify and verify before he put pen to paper or tapping out at the typewriter to print. This need to chronicle history accurately for future generations led him to produce prodigious works such as The best of Bustamante and The Memoirs of Lady Bustamante. He was also the author of two publications on the life of Marcus Mosiah Garvey.
Despite being my senior by many years, I saw him as a confidant and friend and will miss his incisive commentary in the Jamaica Observer.
