Dear Editor,
The recent protest against Jamaica Labour Party caretaker for the Trafalgar Division, Fabian Brown, by the very people he seeks to represent in the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation is nothing short of shocking. The decision by members of the division's worker core to come out against Brown is a slap in the face of all committed and truthful public servants.
Since picking up the gauntlet to represent the citizens of the Trafalgar Division, Brown, without the use of public funds, has done more for them than others. Yet, they seek to castigate him and choose someone who simply comes to throw money at them and forget them until their votes are needed again.
Anyone who knows Brown knows that he is a community builder. His activities range from frequent health fairs to entrepreneurial support and regular beautification projects. We always call for better representation, yet when we get it, we are willing to throw it away for a few shillings.
The sayings are true: Politics is not for the faint of heart, and politics is truly ungrateful.
