Dear Editor,

On August 8, 2015 there was a devastating accident on Dunrobin Avenue Road between a motor car and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist had to be hospitalised.

The Half-Way-Tree Police Station responded within 15 minutes of the collision. The atmosphere at the scene of the accident was chaotic. Immediately traffic began to accumulate bumper to bumper and pedestrians began to converge on the scene, panicking and screaming.

Constable Kaydian Gillespie and her team from the Half-Way-Tree Police Station displayed exemplary professionalism in bringing the chaotic scene under control. Her outstanding, quick and calm reaction to the incident was displayed when she began to speak to the now disorderly crowd that had gathered, asking them tactfully to go behind the boundaries of the scene of the accident in order to allow the police the time and space to process the scene. She then spoke gently and professionally to the traumatised victims, offering counselling and words of upliftment before collecting the relevant statements pertaining to the incident.

The police team on the scene executed their duties with noteworthy professionalism; however officer Kaydian Gillespie's conduct epitomised the essence of true professionalism.
