Dear Editor,
Jamaica is overwhelmed with a serious death crisis. We have been hit by two huge calamities: (1) The death rate based on crime and violence has surpassed the 1,000 mark; (2) Road fatalities have passed the triple-century mark.
So, in all, 2015 has been a year with a serious death crisis in our land. It is very heart-rending to see this beautiful country being speared with a spate of murder and untimely deaths.
It's not a pretty state for Jamaica at this stage, even though it's not the first time that the hands of death have put such a huge slap on us. We are certainly on a battlefield.
And as the torrents of deaths are barging in on us, it's the more we are getting restless and fearful. Neverthless, hope must not die; we have to keep hope alive, that we will triumph over our foes.
