Dear Editor,
A newspaper report recently was headlined ‘US$20-m hospital opens in Montego Bay’, which importantly in part stated that, since first being announced in March of last year, the project slated to create more than 300 jobs upon completion by Spain’s Hospiten Group has finally come to fruition.
October 8, 2015 marked the official opening of Hospiten Montego Bay. The new hospital, erected at Cinnamon Hill, Rose Hall, is credited as being the first of its kind in the English-speaking Caribbean and will host a number of highly specialised features including an image diagnostic centre and clinical analysis lab.
I wish to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly commend the chairman of the Hospiten Group, Dr Pedro Luis Cobiella, and the company for investing in Montego Bay and constructing this well-needed, first-class, modern, and highly equipped private medical facility.
Montego Bay, which is the tourist capital of the Caribbean, can take pride in the fact that the Hospiten Group thought it wise to erect and equip such a facility in Montego Bay, which will serve both locals and visitors to our island, and can take comfort in the fact that the hospital will offer medical services on par with internationally accepted medical standards and will be a major boost to expanding Jamaica’s health tourism sector.
Spain’s Hospiten Group and its investors have clearly demonstrated that they have a tremendous amount of faith and confidence in Jamaica.
