Dear Editor,
It is quite appropriate for us to accept that the People’s National Party (PNP) has been developed to look about the needs of individuals from all areas in the society. That is why once it is seen how the PNP operates, by others who are strangers, they are befuddled or surprised. They cannot come to grips with how Comrades interrelate with each other, even though we all have our individual likes or dislikes, similarities or differences. The PNP puts us into one block. We are Comrades.
The PNP’s current leaders, supporters, and members have taken up from where our forebears have left us. In that regard, the party accommodates the interest of all. Members from the divisions and constituencies look around for their fellow Comrades. That is not to say that we do not regard others around us. Let it not be forgotten that we are a “people’s” party. We care for our children, our youth and our elderly. We always remember that we should always be our brothers’ and sisters’ keeper.
That is why our group meetings are held; not only for us to look about the business of the group and its relationship with the division and the constituency, we also seek to find out about members and how they are thriving. We look out for the elders, especially those who are sick and shut-ins. We care about children and their education. Comrades make sure that they report the needs of children going to school.
We do not wish to fool ourselves. There are those who do not stand up and are counted all the while in pursuit of these tasks, one way or the other. However, it is well known that this is the way in which the PNP and its Comrades operate. The building of a new Jamaica comes from the very base level of partnership and brotherhood. We care about the critical people in our midst. It is through them that we hope the notion of nation-building can bear fruit. We are destined to build a nation over which our people will be justly proud.
We are unhappy about the way in which others are conducting themselves, leaving the way open for our neighbours to get the tools to berate us. We are willing to stand up and be counted among the throng of Comrades and supporters as they show the nation where their future lies. It does not matter that many have not received what they had expected, even though much has been given. We need only to put our minds at ease and be ready for the roller coaster ride to victory.
