Why does the Government make it so hard to give

Dear Editor,

For the past 23 days [written Tuesday, December 29, 2015] I have been sitting in Jamaica waiting and waiting for my container filled with 114 bikes for the children of Jamaica, a wheelchair for an eight-year-old boy in Santa Cruz, clothes and shoes for a few hundred people, and gifts for children for the holiday season.

I also have all the drilling supplies for the Robin’s Nest Children’s Home in Montego Bay, St James, so they won’t have to walk to the river to get water.

I have been mad, sad, worried, upset, happy, and pretty much every emotion you can imagine. I started this charity a year ago with the hope of doing as much as I could for the people of Jamaica. It has tested everything inside me. I should have known, for some people said I was crazy or would never be able to do it.

Today is my last day here, and I’m praying it comes through. It won’t be perfect, but life never is.

I hoped to travel this entire island to give bikes to children. I won’t have time for that, but as I sit here by the ocean this morning, I think of what I did do. I did collect 114 bikes. I do have the drilling supplies for the children to get water. I do have clothes and shoes for the people of Jamaica. And I learned so much as so many countless people have supported me in this mission.

I have one shot today and it won’t be pretty. I won’t be able to deliver all the stuff I wanted to, but I will hope this one chance they will deliver my container today and, instead of 23 days to deliver, I get these hours to drive around this island and see random children smile.

I really appreciate everyone who has believed in me through this mission, and though we have been stuck in Customs in Jamaica for 23 days, I’m hoping today is the day. Bless up.

I live by two rules: number one is be kind whenever possible, and rule two is it is always possible.

Let’s go One Love Brigade! So here we go!
