God bless Shaggy, Jamaica

Dear Editor,

I believe it was the great philosopher Plato who said, “Good actions give strength to ourselves and inspire good actions in others.” It is not often that we congratulate those who go beyond the call of duty to give charitably and that may be, in part, why so many in Jamaica are despondent about the future.

Last weekend’s staging and raising of millions of dollars by Shaggy and Friends indicate to us the power of organisation, celebrity, and corporate Jamaica coming together as one for a worthy cause.

The Bustamante Hospital for Children, which benefits from the charity event, is in need of serious attention and development to make it a world-class facility benefiting our precious little ones, many of whom are from disadvantaged backgrounds.

I want to specially congratulate Flow for pumping close to $9 million in cash and services to the event, and also the several other corporate entities that made significant contributions to the event.

God bless Shaggy and his associates and every Jamaican who contributed to the charity event for being so kind to the well-being of our children and country as a whole.

I want to also congratulate the organisers themselves for doing a pretty decent job in ensuring that the event ran smoothly and with an elevated quality that is lacking in Jamaica.
