Dear Editor,
The Jamaica Labour Party has provided political leadership on an important national issue that was taken for granted by the People’s National Party (PNP).
The Minister of Science, Technology, Mining, and Energy Philip Paulwell was apprensive at first and was dancing around the bad gas issue. A number of motorists who were already graplling with all kinds of economic hardships were plunged into further financial despair as hefty repair bills were incurred to correct damage occasioned by contaminated fuel.
It is a sad commentary on governance and management of a country’s affair when Government opts to protect private interests rather than the public. One would think that in self-respecting democracies, a government’s first point of duty would be the protection of the public.
There seems to be no end in sight to gaffes and displays of incompetence on the part of the Portia Simpson Miller-led PNP Adminstration. How could something as basic as the taking of a B sample at service stations across the island have escaped the Bureau of Standard?
