Praise Dr Notice

Dear Editor,

I was engrossed by horror when I read Dr Raymoth Notice’s chilling account of the day that he almost lost his life at the hands of “armed hoodlums”.

According to Dr Notice, he believes that he has been marked for death over the past decade. However, he said “it intensified when he placed on record to his party, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), evidence-based concerns of corrupt political elements being foisted on the people despite their known sins”.

Dr Notice has been a very controversial figure within the JLP over the last few years. His unpopularity within his party rose to a new height in the 2007 stand-off with the St Catherine Parish Council and its then Mayor Dr Andrew Wheatley. Dr Notice was calling for the immediate disbandment of the St Catherine Parish Council due to the fact that he thought it was rife with corruption. According to Notice he was calling on the minister of local government to take the council in hand and “dissolve this council now… [before] more serious things will happen”. Dr Notice was uncomfortable with the high level of malfeasance and decided to do the only thing that he could do, and resign.

My question, however, is why has Andrew Holness not addressed this issue?

Praise Notice for avoiding negative influences, to fight fire with fire, and call for police investigations to be carried out. As the saying goes, “Justice cannot forget.”
