Proud of Andrew! Come to the front of the class, Peter and Portia?

Dear Editor,

I am glad that I have a grandmother, on my mother’s side, that took to laying a strong financial foundation for my life. I see the same with Andrew Holness and his children.

Holness has made sure that the other shareholders of ADMAT, his sons Adam and Matthew, will inherit prime real estate. This is the work of a responsible father.

Secondly, he has revealed to the nation sources of funding for his property. Honestly, not that I cared, but it is at the very least refreshing to know that the question of how Holness proceeded was answered.

The Peter Phillips assault was, in the end, “much ado about nothing”. Except, one big problem!!

Dr Phillips, would you be so kind as to lead by example on this one? It is rumoured in some circles that you had acquired property through Finsac. Thus, here is the problem. Whatever you required of Holness, in the name of transparency and integrity, must also be required of you. Is that not a reasonable position? Why then, should we wait until March?

If Jamaica is the leading place to do business as your party’s ads in the media claim, then one would not expect a lot of People’s National Party (PNP) bigwigs to have companies registered outside of Jamaica. I truly hope that is not the case. But if it is I’m sure that yourself and the highly vaunted integrity controls of the PNP would be more than happy to share with the public, your best knowledge.

The house argument is ultimately an attempt to distract people’s attention from two pivotal things vital to the JLP at this time. One being the 10-point plan, the other being Portia Simpson Miller’s seeming apathy towards sharing the debate stage with Holness.

A responsible father always seeks to do the right thing. Definitely, Andrew is no longer just Portia’s son. He is now her teacher. I wish she would escape obscurity and come to the front of the class. If that happens, then we would hear of her problems and concerns, even to the point of a debate if necessary. Then Andrew, in his thoughtful, intellectual way can quietly take Mama aside and teach her. That way, Andrew can teach her and let her know that she needs not to worry, everything will be alright in his hands.

What a wonderful moment it is, when a mother can learn from her son. She must be so proud.
