Dear Editor,

The ruling People’s National Party (PNP) wants us to believe that it is on a mission to create a Jamaica that will acquire First-World status. But if we are to go by its record in the last four years and the 18 years prior to 2007, we can’t help but greet this big promise with a big yawn.

Looking at what has occurred, if the PNP is returned to power on February 25, Jamaica may well become poorer, as it will be presided over by a Government with zero accountability.

The so-called manifesto that the PNP hurriedly released on Tuesday amidst growing calls for a detailed plan forward should be seen as an insult to all. There is nothing new in the document. It is a compilation of stale, unfulfilled promises that are complemented by fresh, high-resolution pictures, and fastened between two glossy, expensive-looking covers. At best, the PNP has given us a ‘con-ifesto’.
