More than just politics

Dear Editor,

I have listened to the discussion over the past few weeks and was shocked by the pronouncements of doom and gloom for Jamaica being touted by People’s National Party supporters because of a change of Government.

Conversely, the Government seems very much in a planning phase and is quite focused on getting it right. The new Jamaica Labour Party Government made plans based on the blissful state that was being described by the then Government, and more so by the then Finance Minister Dr Peter Phillips. When one stays on the outside and looks in, or better yet listens to the self-praise, it gives the impression that “everyting cris”. I believed then and I believe now that all was never well.

Why didn’t they step up the progress and then ‘call it’? Did Dr Phillips stop believing in the direction?

Let us remember, this is not a football match; there is only one team, Jamaica. Let us all ensure we play our part in seeking prosperity for Jamaica.

Elections are over; a new Government is in charge. Let us, especially the young, be about more than just politics and unite for a better Jamaica, ensuring that we don’t just talk but inspire action.
