Would the wrongdoers walk free?

Dear Editor,

Some days ago, there was a debate on TVJ’s All Angles pertaining to this question: Do you think the justice minister’s proposal to dismiss cases in the justice system for five years and more should be granted?

My brief comment on the question is “No!”

We need to find out, first of all, what is causing the backlog, and why is the number getting larger and larger.

Is the justice system understaffed? If there are sufficient skilled professional workers in this system, there shouldn’t have been so many cases, for so many years, that have not been tried.

On the other hand, when we talk about throwing cases through the window, what would happen to all those murderers who have butchered people so brutally? Would the rapists and wrongdoers walk free?

No matter how long it takes, and will take, cases that are drawn with the red line, murder and rape, and so on, should never be dismissed. So, let us get down to business and serve justice.

Criminals must reap what they have sown.
