SPM has no special resources for Labour Day activities

Dear Editor,

SPM Waste Management Limited wishes to provide clarity to a story published in the Daily Observer on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, entitled ‘Mandeville Mayor Lashes NSWMA’.

Our focus continues to be conducting our normal function, which is primarily the collection of solid waste from residential communities. Also included in our regular function is the collection of solid waste from major town centres in late evenings and early mornings. This is quite critical for the collection of waste from commercial entities to which we are contracted.

Unfortunately, however, SPM is not afforded special resources as it relates to Labour Day activities. Moreover, many such activities require the use of a tipper truck, but there are currently no operational tippers in our fleet.

Nevertheless, we at SPM are committed to the task for which we have responsibility and are willing to do whatever we can to ensure a clean and beautiful region.

SPM is the regional body under the NSWMA with responsibility for the collection of solid waste in Mandeville, St Elizabeth and Clarendon.
