Dear Editor,
When former People’s National Party President P J Patterson ran against then Jamaica Labour Party Edward Seaga in one of the past general elections he employed the slogan “Black Man Time”. This spurred many individuals of darker hue within Jamaica to acknowledge that it was time to vote for a candidate that was more representative of the skin colour of the majority of Jamaicans.
The gullible Jamaican populace ran with it and voted for Patterson and his People’s National Party. This slogan directly influenced the election outcome and Patterson deliberately exploited the black masses to gain these votes, knowing that he and the People’s National Party did not have a clear agenda to take Jamaica from being dependent on barrels and remittances from families abroad, thus guiding Jamaica from poverty to prosperity.
Now, fast-forward to 2016, when Mark Golding, a People’s National Party member of lighter hue, who ran against Colin Campbell, who is of darker hue, for the chairmanship of the St Andrew Southern constitutency, which is being vacated by the retiring Omar “run wid it” Davies himself. It is most ironic that “Mr Black Man Time” had endorsed “Mr White Man” over “Mr Black Man”.
As the popular saying in Jamaica goes: “Jackass seh di worl’ nuh level.”
Patterson, the Jamaican people would like to know if this “white man” that you so resoundingly endorsed will do good by the citizens of “Concrete Jungle” and will help with uplifting these black masses to prosperity, which has been a miserably failed effort under your black man rule.
