Dear Editor,
Sitting here listening to the experts saying all manner of not nice things about Donald Trump and predicting his imminent loss I was truly amazed. If the man could have got to where he was on the eve of the elections why would they think it impossible to simply step across the finish line?
I am not surprised at the outcome of the United States presidential elections, and to be honest I am glad it went this way for a number of reasons.
Trump has expressed views that have resulted in him being labelled several things. The media had their agenda, and while a lot of the bad press Trump received was well deserved, a lot of it was unjustified in my opinion. I would like to suggest, though, that it is possible that if some of what is inside the head of Hillary Clinton were to see the light of day chances are they may be so far left field she would be put in a rocket and banished to Mars.
From personal experience I would prefer knowing about the vices and bad things of my acquaintances up front. I would then know exactly how to navigate and negotiate our relationship.
Another of the reasons I am glad Trump triumphed is the fact that he is not a career politician. I get the impression his responses to issues and concerns are more likely to be real, not sanitised and politically incorrect. I also like the fact that someone who has first-hand knowledge of running businesses, having to meet pay bills, is in the driver’s seat.
One Jamaican female entertainer was taken to task on social media for daring to say she would be voting for Donald Trump come election day, and she promptly back-pedalled. I suspect that a few people now may be having difficulty seeing because of the egg on their faces.
I must say the snippet I heard of Trump’s victory speech was light years ahead of anything coming from the mouth of any Jamaican prime minister so far.
What a hell if he turns out to be the best president ever?
