Dear Editor,
Despite the crushing blow that Hillary suffered in her bid to become the president of the United States, she, as a caring and loving woman, mother, wife, and matriarch of the USA, in my eyes, and in the eyes of millions of people in America and throughout world, has not lost. She is a winner — our winner.
Yes, she has lost that historical opportunity to become the first woman president of the USA, but she, despite all the ordeals endured during the long presidential campaign, has gained in stature because of her poise, equanimity, and grace.
The American presidency is poorer without Hillary.
Hillary has run the race and has kept the faith, and for this we owe her a great debt of gratitude. So I propose the following things:
1. That all her admirers in Jamaica invite her to visit our lovely island as a private citizen.
2. That in order to accommodate her visit, all interested stakeholders in Jamaica, who can afford it, make a contribution, whichever way they can, to make Hillary’s visit to Jamaica possible, and enjoyable. To back up words with action, I will donate the first US$1,000, and I invite other Jamaicans to contribute whatever amount they can to bring Hillary to our beautiful island for at least one month, at no expense to herself. An escrow account can be opened in one of our financial institutions in Jamaica, so that we can pay into this account for Hillary’s visit.
3. That all necessary arrangements be made to show Hillary our wonderful country and for her to meet and greet as many of our wonderful people as possible, from all walks of life.
4. That she be accommodated in some of our best resorts in Jamaica, partake of some of our best Jamaican cuisine and be entertained by some of our finest Jamaican musical and theatrical artistes.
5. That the Government of Jamaica make her a honourable citizen of Jamaica and bestows on her one of our national awards. So Hillary, you are our heroine. We salute and honour you.
So, just give us a date when you’d like to come, and we’ll do the rest for you.
