Rampant waste of public funds

Dear Editor,

The astronomical phone bills of our government ministers should be called out for what they are: Another example of rampant waste of public funds, abuse of power and authority, along with the lack of proper controls, and accountability, and a total disrespect for taxpayers who pay for it.

There should've been strict policies in place for use of phones in the hands of government members, especially while travelling overseas.

Everyone is aware of high roaming fees overseas, but there are also options and these bills should be kept in check. We should not allow ministers to feed us nonsense as explained in the statement by Minister Brown that "it is necessary to be in contact with, and be accessible to the ministry, key stakeholders, and the Diaspora by phone and email".

A minister of state/junior minister should have specific tasks, and with a minister in place with full responsibility for the foreign affairs and foreign trade portfolio, the extent of his foreign travels should also be limited.

Why is it that when the People's National Party is in power there is seemingly rampant mismanagement and use of public funds?
