Dear Editor,
To say that I am appalled at the vulgar kind of politics that has been displayed over the past weeks is to put it mildly. However, it has sunk to an all-time low now.
The JLP standard-bearer for the constituency of St Andrew Eastern Fayval Williams posted a picture to her Facebook captioned, "I want to get your comments on this. This picture was reportedly taken in Jamaica."
The picture is of a mother in seeming desperation and crying next to a baby in a box labelled "for sale baby".
I do not know if Ms Williams posted the picture herself or it was her handlers, but I think greater sensitivity and sensibility should have been exercised for someone in her office.
What should have been done is that somehow this mother should have been sought and both her and the child given help.
It is reckless to just post an image of that kind on social media and invite comments without even verifying the true image and where it was taken. As a politician that is aspiring to sit in the the Parliament, greater care must be taken.
I say shame on you, Fayval Williams, and your handlers for even thinking of posting such a picture at this time.
I truly hope that this picture can be verified and help received.
