Bogue Heights needs action from MP Malahoo Forte

Dear Editor,

Please afford me space in your newspaper to appeal to Member of Parliament (MP) for St James West Central, Marlene Malahoo Forte, to address the deplorable conditions of roads in our Bogue Heights neighbourhood.

The roads of which I am aware that require urgent repair work are namely, Bogue Heights Boulevard, Lagoon View Street, Julie Crescent, and Malcolm Heights Street. These named roads are all in a shameful state and need to be repaired in the shortest possible time.

Additionally, there are a number of unoccupied open lots across the Bogue Heights community that are heavily bushed up and contain debris and waste containers that are outright breeding sites for the Aedes aegypti mosquito. These open lots need to be bushed and cleaned up to eliminate the added possibility of thieves hiding therein to plan assaults.

Within the New Ramble area, just above the exclusive residential area of Bogue Heights, there is widespread poverty, declining infrastructure and a huge unemployment problem. These serious problems require the immediate attention of MP Malahoo Forte. There is very little piped National Water Commission (NWC) water going into New Ramble and the theft of electricity seems widespread throughout the community.

We Bogue Heights residents who have invested in purchasing our expensive homes are constantly bombarded with loud, pounding music from New Ramble, especially on weekends, and demand that the MP and senior superintendent of police for the St James Division, Marlon Nesbeth, seek to have this long-standing, nagging, disgraceful issue dealt with as a major priority.

As it relates to the sewage ponds located alongside the Bogue main road, I am appealing to the managing director of the NWC to proceed to have those ponds properly cleaned and maintained to prevent the filthy and obnoxious smell that is emanating from those six sewage ponds on a daily basis and surely breeding mosquitoes. This situation is a disgrace. The NWC should be ashamed for neglecting to maintain those filthy sewage ponds now becoming a health risk to us residents of Bogue Heights and Bogue Village.

Awaiting MP Malahoo Forte’s action to tackle the abovementioned problems affecting Bogue Heights and surrounding areas. Over to you, Madam MP.
