Dear Editor,
Quite recently, Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sandals Resort International Adam Stewart was officially awarded the prestigious national honour the Commander of the Order of Distinction for outstanding contribution to Jamaica’s tourism and hotel industry.
A well-designed
Jamaica Observer supplement followed on October 30, 2016 detailing the country’s youngest tourism mogul and CEO responsible for many locally and regionally operated Sandals hotel properties.
After being handed the reins by his father, Gordon “Butch” Stewart, in 2006, he has undoubtedly proven himself to be a pragmatic, humble and hard-working CEO, expanding on the world-famous Sandals and winning numerous local, regional and international tourism awards for outstanding performance.
Adam Stewart has done Jamaica proud and demonstrated to his country and the Caribbean that through hard work, dedication and innovation successes can be achieved. He is certainly a talented visionary and true leader. Jamaica is fortunate to have young Adam Stewart working unremittingly to build the country’s tourism product. He continues to identify opportunities and prudently implement programmes that reap success.
The irrepressible Adam Stewart, through the Sandals Corporate University/ATL Academy of Excellence, has dutifully presented educational and scholarship opportunities to many Sandals/ATL group team members, demonstrating that he places immense importance on education and that of ensuring that all team members are offered the opportunity to constantly upgrade their educational levels which will have a positive effect on the recipients and their families and country. The work of the Sandals Foundation also speaks to the humanity of the brand. As a philanthropist in his own right he has assisted many young people.
Adam is truly a trailblazer and marketer of first-class ratings. Through his hard work and prodigious accomplishments the World Travel Awards have named him a ‘Rising Star’ within the Caribbean’s tourism industry. He is an enormous asset to Jamaica’s tourism industry and truly deserves this noted national honour. He continues to be an inspiration to many other young up-and-coming tourism leaders, managers, investors and CEOs within Jamaica.
I commend him on his many successes so far, in Jamaica and throughout the Caribbean, and implore him to continue the distinguished, outstanding and excellent work across the country and region’s tourism sector. Well done, Adam Stewart.
