Dear Editor,
We need to have fixed election date. I think that the action of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Administration to call the local government election so quickly and put the Electoral Office of the Jamaica (EOJ) on a break-neck race to be ready is sad. One would think that a well-thinking, transparent, and accountable minister and Ministry of Local government would consult with the EOJ to ensured that they are fully prepared before calling the election, and listen to then as to the best time frame to name a date.
What’s the hurry? What is the JLP afraid of? Is the “prosperity” popularity waning?
The conduct of this Administration gives rise to why we should have fixed election dates. Isn’t this a promise that was made in the JLP’s manifesto? Then we should hold them to it. The ECJ would have no excuse if he have a fixed election date.
